Christmas thief steals 'Nun Bun'

The horror. A thief stole the famous cinnamon pastry from a coffeeshop in Nashville, TN. A customer found the bun, which some claimed looked a lot like Mother Theresa, in 1996.

I think it looks like this guy:

Why do people suddenly go into religious swoons over random patterns?
Such as the nacho pan jeebus from a couple posts back, or this jeebus on a tortilla that was put into a freaking shrine in Lake Arthur, NM:

or this grilled cheese mary:

Of course people can believe whatever they want. Venerating some slime mold or paint drips doesn't hurt anybody. But is this an indication of how gullibly stupid we are as a society?
What's next, voting to put an incompetent dimwit into the white house?

Update - Bob Geiger at Yellow Dog Blog has much the same post as this, highlighting a Rold Gold, honey-mustard-flavored pretzel that was the spittin image of the virgin mary cradling the baby jeebus. The white house resident's notorious snack was sold on ebay for $10,600.
